Former US Marine Paul Whelan is currently being held in Russia on espionage charges.<br />Russian authorities claim Whelan, who is being held in Lefortovo Prison, was working as a spy.<br />According to Business Insider, the 48-year-old is a citizen of at least four different countries.<br />He was discharged from the Marine Corps for bad conduct.<br />He tried to steal over $10,000 from the US government, and also wrote bad checks for around $6,000. <br />
