Winds of up to 75mph have lashed northern Scotland this afternoon (January 7) causing foliage to fly into the road.<br /><br />In video of the winds on a highway by Dornoch bridge near Inverness, gorse bushes can be seen uprooted and flung into the oncoming path of drivers.<br /><br />Motorists have been braving the extreme weather most of the day but authorities have since closed the bridge.
