Workers at KB Kookmin Bank stage first strike in 19 years over working conditions

Workers at South Korea's largest bank are on their first nationwide strike in almost 20 years on this Tuesday.<br />The walkout at KB Kookmin Bank comes as last-minute negotiations on Monday between the labor union and management failed to produce a compromise.<br />The union wants the bank to change its maximum salary policy, performance-related pay grade system and give workers profit-sharing bonuses in line with the industry standard.<br />About two-thirds of the bank employees are on strike.<br />As a result,... hundreds of branches will be severely impacted by the strike on Tuesday.<br />The union says four additional strikes are scheduled through March,... if their demands are not met. <br />
