Parkland Commission Suggests More Police, Arming Teachers

<br /> The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission has approved its final report.<br />The commission will send recommendations to the governor’s office and the Florida legislature.<br />“We will be vigilant and we, like the legislature, expect compliance and change with urgency.”<br />The report is an in-depth analysis of the Parkland shooting in February 2018, in which 17 students and staff members were killed.<br />It documents shortcomings in the school’s security measures and offers recommendations about how the high school could improve safety.<br />The report calls for increased funding for school police officers and training teachers to carry firearms. <br />
