The chief of South Korea's ruling Democratic Party has vowed to do everything he can this year to revitalize the economy and foster peace on the peninsula.<br />In his new year's press conference on Sunday,... Lee Hae-chan said that the ruling party will be at the forefront to support the government's goal of building a nation in which everyone prospers.<br />He said that the National Assembly passed a number of bills last year to boost people's livelihoods,... but noted that some people have not been able to feel the impact.<br />To this, he said that the party will do more to reach out to those in need,... and also focus on building a social dialogue.<br />The ruling party chief also said this year is a good opportunity to revamp the country's electoral system since there's no nationwide election scheduled,... adding that his party will look for the best way to strengthen proportionality and representation.<br />Lee also vowed to work as a team with the government and the presidential office,... and called on rival parties to cooperate to be productive and to work for the people. <br />
