Presidential Office focuses on economy; Pres. briefed on economic policy direction for 2019 and calls for active followup measures to support local businesses

대통령 연일 경제행보,... 부총리 민생경제 보고 받아; 기업인 대화 후속조치 착수; 23일 공정경제장관회의 열 것<br /><br />At the nation's top office, President Moon Jae-in was briefed on this year's economic policies.<br />With the Lunar New Year holiday coming up,... the top office also held talks on ways to make sure people have stable livelihoods.<br />According to Finance minister Hong Nam-ki the government will launch two corporate investment projects worth 3-point-4 billion U.S. dollars in the first half this year.<br />He said special grants will be given to struggling industrial regions with high unemployment.<br />The South Korean leader meanwhile, called for active follow-up measures to help companies launch new investments.<br />The Cheongwadae, vowed to work with the finance ministry and the chamber of commerce to do more in terms of cutting red tape.<br />The government also plans to set up a new support group for certain industrial sectors like fuel cell vehicles and non-memory semiconductors.<br />On the 23rd, the president plans to meet with economy-related ministers for the second time, since holding such a session last month.<br />In the first one, Moon showed he is determined to push ahead with his policy of income-led growth.<br />This time, he'll be promoting fair trade, another of the administration's main policies. <br />
