Guangzhou city buses go pure electric

2019-01-17 930 Dailymotion

Guangzhou has electrified 92 per cent of its public transport buses, reserving some vehicles from its old fleet for emergencies such as power cuts and floods.
More than 10,000 new electric vehicles are on the streets of China’s most populous city, also the capital of the southern province of Guangdong.
Following the Shenzhen special economic zone near Hong Kong, Guangzhou is the latest city in the province to convert public buses in a bid to reduce pollution.
The conversion has outpaced efforts in the world’s other large cities. London plans to go all-electric with transit buses by 2030 and New York City is currently testing a small fleet before a wider transition to electric by 2040.
