단군부터 제우스까지…태백산 눈 축제 개막<br /><br />Various Winter events are taking place across the country.<br />One of the most popular snow festivals is held in Taebaeksan Mountain.<br />Our Seo Eun-kyung is there to soak in the excitement as the celebrations begin today.<br />Eunkyung fill us in. <br />Good evening, Daniel. Surrounded by breathtaking snowy mountains, the Taebaeksan Mountain Snow Festival has a range of winter attractions, from giant ice sculptures to ice slides, for visitors to enjoy.<br />The 8-meter-high sculpture of King Dangun, the mythical founder of the first Korean kingdom more than 4-thousand-350 years ago catches visitors' eyes.<br />Giant snow sculptures, including other mythological characters such as Zeus and Poseidon, and landmarks like the Sphinx, are the festival's main attractions.<br />A snow statue of a pig represents the new year of 2019,... and the shipjangseng , the ten traditional symbols of longevity, including a pine tree, turtle and deer, wish visitors the very best for the new year. <br />As much as 60,000 tons of artificial snow, which is equivalent to 2,400 cargo containers, was used for carving the pieces. <br />Thirty snow sculptors who worked on the Harbin Ice Lantern Festival in China were invited and have been sweating for nearly a month to create the sculptures.<br /> Visitors can also ride a sled, build a snowman, go down an ice slide and enjoy other winter activities. <br />The Taebaeksan Mountain Snow Festival which celebrates its 26th anniversary this year, will continue until the 3rd of next month. <br />Back to you, Daniel. <br />
