Thousands of Greek protestors took to the streets of Athens on Sunday to rally against a name change deal reached between the government and neighboring Macedonia.
The demonstrations came just days before the Greek parliament was due to ratify the deal.
The rallies were mostly peaceful, but there were pockets of violence and clashes between police and protestors.
The name-change agreement is the result of a dispute between Greece and Macedonia that has lasted almost three decades.
It designates Greece's northern neighbor as Republic of North Macedonia.
However, Greeks claim the use of the name Macedonia could ignite competitive claims on ancient Greek history and heritage.
