Voting kicks off in Kericho and Malindi by elections

By elections in Malindi and Kericho kicked off in earnest Monday as residents went to the polls to elect their new representatives for the National Assembly and Senate respectively.<br /><br />The polls opened at 6am in both areas, with no hitch reported so far.<br /><br />Capital FM News spoke to some of the voters in Kericho who woke up early to cast their vote before going on with their daily business.<br /><br />“I am excited that this is a big day for us because we will get a new leader by the end of the day” James Langat said.<br /><br />Jubilee Alliance Party’s Aaron Cheruiyot and KANU’s Paul arap Sang are seen as front runners in the contest that has been described as a supremacy battle between Deputy President William Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.<br /><br />In Malindi, Jubilee Alliance Party’s Philip Charo is battling it out with Willy Mtengo of the Orange Democratic Movement party.
