Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko has directed the Inspector General of Police to launch a probe into Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, after he made remarks alluding that he was the acting President of the Republic of Kenya.<br /><br />Sonko uttered the controversial words during Friday’s burial of the former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti’s husband, saying he was third in command after the President and his Deputy.<br />“Rais (President) Uhuru ako Togo, Deputy President William Ruto ako France…I am number three in command. Politically, elsewhere and socially. I am now the acting President of the Republic of Kenya,” the legislator said amid cheers from the mourners.<br /><br />Tobiko in a letter to I G of Police Joseph Boinnet said Sonko should be investigated immediately and the file forwarded to his office for an immediate action.<br /><br />He made the remarks despite the Deputy President being in the country and who automatically assumes the position, once the President is out of the country.<br /><br />President Uhuru Kenyatta is in Togo to attend African Union Extra-ordinary Summit on Maritime Security and Safety and Development in Africa.<br /><br />Sonko is known of being controversial.
