U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is officially postponing President Trump's State of the Union address until the government is fully reopened.
She had initially invited him to deliver the address next Tuesday, but she has since urged him to postpone it due to a lack of security amid the government shutdown.
She wrote a letter to Trump on Wednesday, saying the House would not consider a measure authorizing the speech for now.
The move came just hours after President Trump notified Pelosi that he was planning to deliver the speech in line with her original invitation.
Trump said he was not surprised by Pelosi's reaction and that he would respond to Pelosi in a timely manner.

"I'm not surprised. It's really a shame what's happening with the Democrats, they become radicalized……… We'll have to respond to it. We'll respond to it in a timely manner. Thank you very much everybody."
