Gov't, ruling party vow to pass bills on abolishing sexual abuse in S. Korea's sports industry

South Korea's ruling party and government officials have vowed to pass bills aimed at eradicating violence..., including sexual assault in the nation's sporting circles, during next month's extraordinary session.<br />At Thursday's meeting,... the lawmakers and government officials discussed ways to tackle violence in sports,.... which is under the spotlight after female athletes spoke out about being sexually assaulted.<br />They said, it needs to be mandatory for coaches to receive violence prevention education.... and to permanently revoke a coach's license if they are found guilty of assault.<br />They also agreed to extend the period of time a person can come forward with a criminal allegations about a sexual assault.... to five years since the incident was revealed.... and 20 years since it occurred.<br />The government will also establish a consultative body to change the "win at all cost" culture in the country's sports system... and to prevent such abuse from happening again. <br />
