Who Were the Swiss Mercenaries?<br /><br />During the Italian Wars, between France and the Spanish/Imperials, both sides used Swiss mercenaries, armed with pikes and fighting in squares.<br /><br />At Agnadello (1509) the Swiss annihilated the enemy cavalry.<br /><br />At Novara (1513) they destroyed the opposing German Landsknechts squares, winning a decisive victory at that phase of the war.<br /><br />In the first part of the war they achieved what we would call, today “Full Spectrum Dominance”<br /><br />Let's learn more about them.<br /><br />#MilitaryHistory
