South Korea's imports of liquefied natural gas hit a record high last year on surging imports from the U.S. <br />The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) says more than 44 million tons of LNG were imported in 2018, up 17 percent on-year. <br />Qatar was Korea's number one LNG supplier, accounting for about a third of the country's total LNG imports.<br />This was followed by Australia, the U.S. and Oman. <br />LNG imports from the U.S. more than doubled in 2018 from the previous year to four-point-six million tons, making Korea the number one LNG importer from the U.S. <br />
