Measles Outbreak Prompts <br />State of Emergency <br />in Washington State The state currently <br />has 35 confirmed cases <br />of the infectious disease. Gov. Jay Inslee declared the <br />emergency on Friday. The declaration allows <br />state resources to <br />"assist affected areas." Jay Inslee, Washington Governor, via CNN Measles can be <br />fatal in small children. 30 of the cases in <br />Clark County, WA, are thought <br />to involve people who have not <br />been vaccinated for the disease. Measles was considered <br />eliminated from the <br />U.S. almost 20 years ago. A recent rise in <br />unvaccinated children <br />is thought to attribute <br />to outbreaks of the disease.
