American Lung Association Calls Out FDA Over E-Cigarettes The Food and Drug <br />Administration (FDA) received <br />a failing grade from the association <br />in its State of Tobacco Control report. The author of the report <br />says the failing grade is <br />mostly due to "lack of action." It notes a "staggering <br />78% increase among <br />high school students and <br />e-cigarette use in 2017-18." More than one <br />in five high school <br />students are current <br />e-cigarette smokers. The issue has been called <br />an epidemic by both the<br />FDA commissioner and <br />the U.S. surgeon general. Thomas Carr, American Lung Association Tobacco kills 480,000 <br />people in the U.S. each year. It's the leading cause of <br />U.S. preventable death.
