Venezuela's self-proclaimed interim president, Juan Guaido, says a police unit accused of extrajudicial killings visited his home on Thursday.
He claimed the squad was sent under orders from sitting President Nicolas Maduro in an attempt to suppress the opposition leader.
Guaido said he was out at an event during the time, adding the police had asked for his wife, who was at home with their 20-month old daughter.
The squad's commander denied that happened.
The United States, which backs Guaido, has warned of "serious consequences" if Maduro's government harms him.
