Stunning footage captured off the coast of Thailand shows a freediver encountering a huge manta ray.<br /><br />The beautiful moment was filmed in the Andaman Sea today (February 2nd).<br /><br />Historically, manta rays were feared for their size and power. Sailors believed that they ate fish and could sink boats by pulling on the anchors. <br /><br />This attitude changed in the 1970s when divers around the Gulf of California found them to be placid and that they could interact safely with the animals.
