A train came off the tracks in eastern India on Sunday, killing seven people and injuring 29 others.<br />Two of the injured are in critical condition.<br />India's railways ministry says the train derailed about 50 kilometers east of Patna, the capital of Bihar state.<br />Most of the passengers were asleep at the time.<br />Rescue work was finished on Sunday, and the authorities are investigating the cause.<br />India's huge railway system is notoriously unsafe for a host of reasons including a lack of maintenance and proper signaling equipment.<br />Last year, 60 people were killed when a train ran through a crowd of people. <br />
