Democrats Respond <br />to Trump's State of <br />the Union Address Stacey Abrams gave <br />the rebuttal to President <br />Donald Trump's wide <br />ranging address. Abrams was recently the <br />Democratic nominee for <br />the Governor of Georgia. She called upon the <br />president to "tell the truth," and to <br />"respect his duties." There were notable <br />instances of Democratic <br />response during the <br />President's address. When Trump evoked the <br />"lawless state of our <br />Southern border," House Speaker <br />Nancy Pelosi <br />visibly shook her <br />head behind him. She and the president <br />have sparred publicly <br />about the border wall and <br />the recent government shutdown. When Trump touted that <br />58% of the newly hired <br />workforce are women, the newly elected democratic <br />women in Congress — <br />all wearing white — stood <br />and applauded each other. They overtook the <br />chants of "USA, USA, USA."
