유엔, '식수공급' 월드비전 등 대북지원사업 2건 제재 면제, WFP 3년간 1억 6천만달러 대북지원계획 이달말 확정<br /><br />Many people in North Korea do not have ready access to clean water and food,... leading to illnesses and malnutrition.<br />To help them out,... three more aid packages are being planned by international NGOs.<br />Hong Yoo has the full story. <br />On Wednesday, the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee on North Korea announced... that a sanctions waiver has been granted to two humanitarian aid packages for North Korea.<br />With this, both the Swiss Humanitarian Aid and World Vision will be able to help North Koreans get access to clean water... within the 6-month window granted to them via the exemptions.<br />The Swiss Humanitarian Aid can import metal wires needed to build wirework containers that help prevent floods,... and tools needed to manufacture pumps that produce drinkable water using solar energy.<br />The materials will cost a total of almost 100-thousand U.S. dollars.<br />World Vision was allowed to take 25 tons of cement, metal pipes of various sizes, and welding rods to build a water line in the county of Samjiyeon-gun, Yanggang-do province.<br />To help North Koreans who are suffering from malnutrition, the World Food Programme announced their new plan to provide around 2.8 million people with food worth around 160 million US dollars.<br />This plan will last for three years,... with the focus of achieving the United Nation's international aid goal of eliminating starvation and reducing malnutrition worldwide by 2030. <br />Hong Yoo, Arirang News.
