A set of paintings attributed to Adolf Hitler have failed to sell at auction in Germany.<br />The five watercolors were said to be from the Nazi dictator's early days as a struggling artist.<br />The highest starting price at Saturday's auction in Nuremberg was 45,000 euros, or 51,000 U.S. dollars.<br />The auction house did not give a reason as to why the paintings failed to sell, but the high prices and lingering suspicions about their authenticity were thought to have scared off potential buyers.<br />Nuremberg's mayor had also condemned the sale as being "in bad taste." <br />
