His music video debuted on May 5, 2018,<br />and was an instant hit, amassing over<br />35 million views on YouTube in only two days. "This Is America" features a dark, pessimistic<br />view of black life in the United States, with images of gun violence and references<br />to slavery appearing throughout the video<br />as Gambino dances in the foreground. The award was accepted by filmmaker Hiro Murai<br />and dedicated to Gambino's father, Donald Glover Sr.,<br />who passed away in December of 2018. 35-year-old Gambino also took home best rap-sung performance for "This Is America." He previously won best traditional R&B performance for his single "Redbone" at the 2018 Grammys and has been nominated for a total of 12 Grammys in his career
