Under it, parents cannot cite <br />philosophical or personal <br />reasons as exemptions for <br />leaving their child unvaccinated. Medical and religious <br />reasons would still be <br />allowed as exemptions. Only 78% of Clark County <br />kids between the ages of six <br />and eighteen have received <br />their measles vaccine. WA Governor Jay Inslee <br />has declared a state of <br />emergency for the region following <br />56 cases of the infectious disease. Parents who choose not to vaccinate <br />their children do so out of fear it will <br />cause both physical and behavioral reactions. Doctors contend that the vaccine <br />is "highly effective" and that the <br />benefits "greatly outweigh the risks." Measles was once considered <br />eradicated in the U.S.
