한국, 26년 만에 남극 공동사찰 참여…남극조약 준수여부 확인<br /><br />South Korea is joining an Antarctic inspection team with Chile, Argentina and Uruguay.<br />The oceans and foreign ministries on Friday announced that South Korea will take part in a two-week long inspection of the Antarctic starting Sunday.<br />The delegation will look around the facilities of Antarctic bases, vessels and aircraft of other member countries under the Antarctic Treaty.<br />The ten-member delegation from four participating nations will report their findings to the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting after their inspection near Anvers Island.<br />The ministries said Korea's decision to join the inspection comes from the need for a new approach to joint international inspections.
