한국당 당권주자들 첫 TV토론회서 격돌

On Friday, South Korea's main opposition Liberty Korea Party held the first debate in this year's race for the party's leadership.
It's a three-way race between former prime minister Hwang Gyo-ahn,... former Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon... and two-term lawmaker Kim Jin-tae.
A key question they were asked was about the 1980 pro-democracy movement.
Last week, three lawmakers, including Kim, had said, controversially,... that North Korea had orchestrated
the demonstration,... and that the families of those who died in the movement were "siphoning off taxpayers' money."
In response to Friday's debate question about the movement, Kim said the issue is related to taxpayers' money, so the government needs to reveal who the payments are going to.
For his part, Hwang Gyo-ahn, said the history of the movement cannot be disputed,... and Oh Se-hoon slammed the party for not cracking down more quickly after the controversy.
The party has expelled one of the lawmakers, but for Kim and another, it's put off disciplinary action for now.
There will be five more televised debates before the party convention on February 27th.
