Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe plans to ask U.S. President Donald Trump to bring up the issue of North Korea's abductions of Japanese nationals during his summit with Kim Jong-un in Hanoi.<br />According to the Mainichi Shimbun newspaper on Tuesday,... Abe addressed the issue while speaking in parliament.<br />He said.... he make the request when he speaks to Trump over the phone before the Vietnam summit.<br />Japan claims that the North kidnapped at least 17 of its citizens in the 1970s and 80s.<br />The abductions have been a major issue for the current Japanese government.<br />However, Abe has been unsuccessful in setting up a meeting with the North Korean leader to resolve the issue.<br />
