BEIJING — Super-touchy Chinese netizens are once again getting their undies in a twist, this time over an ad from Zara.

According to the BBC, the Spanish fashion label's new cosmetics campaign features model Jing Wen and her iconic freckles.

You'd think the Chinese would've been happy that she was the face of the campaign, but apparently people have issues with her spots.

Offended netizens claimed that putting such ugly freckles on display was insulting, and complained that the model didn't look like she was in a good, energetic mood.

Some even suggested that Zara picked the freckled model on purpose to "defame the Chinese", nevermind that Jing Wen is a pro who's modelled for top brands and been on the cover of Vogue China.

Zara responded to the haters by saying the ad wasn't targeted specifically at China, and put the backlash down to a difference in aesthetics. The brand added that the models were photographed as is, with no digital touch ups.

This prompted other users to chime in with support for both Zara and Jing Wen, and criticism for their vitriolic countrymen.

And in a twist absolutely no one expected, state-run China Daily came out with an editorial basically calling out the whiners, telling them to suck it up and quit being snowflakes.
