If it looks familiar then you’re not wrong as it’s a SEAT Ateca SUV, but the Spanish car company has hived off its Cupra models into its own performance brand. It says a lot for the increasing popularity of SUVs that Cupra launches its new brand with a high-riding family car. The Ateca gets a sporty makeover on the outside and underneath it uses one of VW Group’s 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engines – here with 296bhp and 400Nm of torque.
