A five-point-eight magnitude earthquake has rocked the Japanese island of Hokkaido, but there were no immediate reports of serious damage or injuries.<br />Japan's Meteorological Agency said the tremor struck Thursday night, local time, in the town of Atsuma at a depth of 33 kilometers.<br />There was also no fear of a tsunami and no abnormalities were detected at nuclear plants in the region.<br />Atsuma was hit by deadly landslides triggered by a magnitude 6.7 quake last September, which claimed more than 40 lives. <br />
