South Korea has long struggled with a high rate of poverty among the elderly.<br />The latest data show those with the lowest incomes were, on average, older than ever last year.<br />Statistics Korea says those in the bottom 20-percent income bracket,... in the fourth quarter,... were on average 63 years old.<br />That's 12 years older than they were in 2003.<br />In the second-lowest income bracket were on average 54 years old, up 10 years from before.<br />The highest earners, in the top 20 percent, were only 5 years older, though, at an average ago of 50. <br />
