Almost FOUR out of 10 Korean women are working for low wages,.... and while that figure is slowly improving, it's still the worst among OECD member nations.
According to the OECD data,.... 35-point-3 percent of female workers in South Korea in 2017 were paid low wages,.... defined as less than two-thirds of the OECD average wage.
Next on the list was the U.S.,... with 29-point-oh-7 percent of female workers earning low wages.
One of the reasons for the high percentage of female workers on low wages.... was that they had their careers interrupted by giving birth and parenting.
The Bank of Korea said.... that the government should help more Korean women to continue working.... by expanding the childcare support system.... and encouraging fathers to use their paternity leaves.
