Rami Malek Wins <br />Best Actor at 2019 Oscars Malek won for his performance <br />as Freddie Mercury in <br />Bohemian Rhapsody. The film is a celebration <br />of the iconic rock band <br />Queen and its convention <br />defying singer, Freddie Mercury. It was the first time Malek <br />had been nominated for an Oscar. In order to portray <br />the extraordinary lead singer, Malek had to learn how <br />to sing, play the piano and <br />move like Freddie Mercury. Other actors nominated in <br />the category included Bradley <br />Cooper, Willem Dafoe, Viggo <br />Mortensen and Christian Bale. During his speech, Malek <br />highlighted that he is a <br />first generation American, <br />the son of immigrants from Egypt.
