Another day, another fine dust advisory for those of us in South Korea.<br />The weather is starting to warm up, but with the air quality being so bad,... most people are forced to stay indoors rather than enjoy the advent of early spring.<br />Lee Seung-jae reports.<br /> <br />A thick blanket of fog mixed with smog covers the airport. <br />The thickness of the fog caused air traffic controllers in South Korea to turn domestic flights around... due to low visibility levels.<br />The intensity of the fog was made worse by the arrival of toxic smog from China.<br />Fine dust concentration levels soared to as high at 80 micrograms late Monday, and fine dust advisories were issued across Seoul, its surrounding areas, as well as the Chungcheong-do region and Jeollabuk-do Province.<br />Citizens are increasingly concerned about the threat fine dust poses to their health and the health of their families.<br />As a result, many are avoiding outdoor activities altogether,... despite the welcome uptick in temperatures after a long, cold winter.<br /><br />I came out to exercise because the weather has warmed up, but I'm worried about the fine dust.<br /><br />Experts project that fine dust levels are expected to go down eventually,... but it can't be soon enough for many.<br /><br />On Tuesday, northwesterly winds will bring high concentrations of fine dust to the Yeongnam region. Korea's central inland regions will also be affected due to atmospheric congestion.<br /><br />Citizens are advised to put on suitable face masks if they have to head outside for prolonged periods.<br />Children, the elderly and those with breathing problems should stay indoors whenever possible.<br />Lee Seung-jae, Arirang News. <br />
