Mumbai: Vihari Poddar, wife of textile tycoon Abhishek Poddar, director of Siyaram Silk Mills, was arrested on Thursday for trying to smuggle in jewellery worth Rs. 2.35 crore. <br /><br />VihariPoddar, who is managing director of the Singapore-based Vihari Jewels Pvt Ltd, was detained at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on Tuesday night after she landed from a Singapore flight. <br /><br />According to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials, Vihari was passing through the green channel with the undeclared diamond-studded gold jewellery, which she has stuffed inside her underclothes.<br /><br />The lawyer denied reports that the gold and diamond jewellery were smuggled inside her undergarments. "Vihari Poddar is not a smuggler, nor has she smuggled the jewellery.
