Sixteen persons were killed and 15 injured as a bus fell into a gorge in Tehri district's Juyalgarh area, on Saturday afternoon.<br /><br />Tehri Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukhtar Mohsin said the bus may have fallen into the gorge due to over-speeding while overtaking another vehicle,<br /><br />The bus was going from Rishikesh to Karnaprayag when it fell into a local stream, which is about 135 km from here.<br /><br />“The police and the local administration helped the injured, three of whom were in critical condition and had to be air-lifted to Dehradun for the required healthcare,” Mr. Mohsin said, adding that the remaining injured were admitted in the Base Hospital in Srinagar.<br /><br />The rescue operations were over by Saturday evening and the identification of the dead was underway.<br /><br />Chief Minister Harish Rawat, on Saturday, announced that a compensation of Rs. 1 lakh would be paid to the kin of the dead, and Rs. 50,000 would be paid to those who were severely injured in the accident. <br /><br /><br />For More information on this news visit: http://www.itvnewsindia.com/<br />For More information on this news, visit: http://www.itvnewsindia.com/hindi<br />Connect with us on Social platform at: http://www.facebook.com/InformationTV<br />Subscribe to our You Tube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/itvnewsindia
