Southwest Monsoon made its onset over East India around June 20, a bit late than its usual date. Bihar, West Bengal and <br /><br />Jharkhand have received good rain in the beginning. However, the three subdivisions of West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand <br /><br />remained deficient by the end of June.<br />The first few days of July also remained mostly dry. But after July 5, the region received a prolonged spell of rain and <br /><br />the rainfall figures improved significantly. Good rains were observed over most parts of the three states providing the <br /><br />much needed relief to the residents of the region.
