NewsX: Betting is likely to be legalized in India. In the wake of the IPL fixing scandal, the sports ministry wants a thorough clean-up of sports in the country and as a first step, it wants betting legalised. <br /><br />After spot-fixing rocked IPL-6, Law Minister proposed a legislation to fix 'fixing' in sports. Draft of the bill prepared by the Law Ministry is currently being examined by the Sports Ministry. <br /><br />NewsX learns that Sports Ministry is of the view that a better and more practical way to check fixing in sports would be to legalise betting, as it would allow the government to regulate a business worth Rs. 300,000 crore annually.
