In an attempt to firewall convicted legislators, the union cabinet is all set to consider an ordinance seeking to reverse the Supreme Court judgment to disqualify the convicted MPs and MLAs.<br />This after the government failed to get a bill to this effect passed in the parliament. The ordinance will allow convicted MPs and MLAs to continue in office, if the appeal against the conviction is admitted by a higher court within 90 days. Though the netas won't draw any salary and votes pending the appeal. <br />Sources are telling NewsX that the government has weighed its options on bringing an ordinance in this regard to safeguard Congress MP Rashid Masood who is convicted in a corruption case and other offences.
