With exit polls predicting a dismal performance for the Congress, the party tried to mount a strong defence of its vice-president, Rahul Gandhi, saying whatever be the outcome of the Lok Sabha polls, it would be the party's "collective responsibility".<br />AICC general secretary Shakeel Ahmed noted that Rahul Gandhi was the party's number two leader.
