Another cop dragged on car bonnet in Chandigarh

In the second such instance within a month, a traffic policeman was allegedly dragged on the bonnet of a car for 200 metres when he tried to stop the vehicle at a barricade in the industrial area of the city.<br /><br />Police said the incident took place on Saturday night when constable Sandeep Kumar tried to stop the car that allegedly had tinted glasses.<br /><br />However, the driver did not stop and hit constable Sandeep Kumar, following which he landed on the bonnet, the police said.<br /><br />The accused did not stop the car and kept driving for some 200 metres and also hit another person, a motorcyclist, who tried to chase the car, police said, adding that the motorcyclist escaped unhurt.<br /><br />The car driver Tanvinder Singh was arrested after a chase while two passengers, Gagandeep Singh and Jitender Singh, managed to flee, police said.<br /><br />All three are residents of Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab, police said.<br /><br />The injured cop was admitted to a hospital where his condition is stated to be stable, police said.<br /><br />This is the second such instance in the city.<br /><br />On August 10, a traffic police constable signalled a car at the roundabout in the city to stop, after he saw the driver on the phone.<br /><br />The accused, identified as Aftab Singh Gill, a resident of SAS Nagar, tried to flee but ended up dragging the cop, Davinder Singh, on the bonnet of the car for around a km.<br /><br />Gill was later arrested.
