Kim heads back to N. Korea after 5-day visit to Vietnam

Our top story this evening.<br />Following the premature end to his summit with U.S. President Donald Trump,... North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has wrapped up his visit to Vietnam and left for Pyeongyang.<br />Kim Mok-yeon starts us off.<br /> <br /> North Korean leader Kim Jong-un left Vietnam on Saturday, a few hours earlier than originally scheduled... after failing to produce a deal during his talks with U.S. President Donald Trump.<br />The North Korean leader boarded his personal train in the Vietnamese border town of Dong Dang at around 3 p.m. Korea time. <br /> Ahead of his departure, Kim dropped by the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to pay his respects,... as his late grandfather Kim Il-sung shared close personal ties with the former Vietnamese leader.<br />It remains unknown at this time... which route Kim is taking on his trip back to Pyeongyang. <br />If he decides to go straight back to North Korea, the journey will take some 3,800 kilometers and at least two-and-a-half days.<br /> There is speculation that he could stop by the Chinese city of Guangzhou, an area known for its reform efforts and rapid economic development.<br />He could also visit Beijing to discuss the results of the Hanoi summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping,... but nothing has been confirmed.<br />Kim and President Trump held their second summit in Hanoi from Wednesday to Thursday to negotiate a deal on denuclearization,... but the talks broke down as both sides couldn't meet each other's demands.<br /> With the latest trip, Kim Jong-un became the first North Korean leader to visit Vietnam in 55 years, after North Korea's founding leader Kim Il-sung traveled to the country in 1964.<br />Kim Mok-yeon, Arirang News. <br />
