In excess of 1,500 intriguing turtles were seized by the Philippine Department of Traditions in Manila's Ninoy Aquino Global Air terminal, a sum that is said to be worth millions. <br /><br />The turtles were found inside four bits of baggage abandoned by a unidentified Filipino who entered the nation through Philippine Aircrafts flight PR311 from Hong Kong. <br /><br />There were a sum of 1,529 turtles of various species including Star Tortoise, Redfoot Tortoise, Sulcata Tortoise, and Red-eared Slider. <br /><br />The vast majority of them were discovered enclosed by conduit tape. The turtles are worth about PHP4.5 million or US$87,017.74. <br /><br />The organization has turned the creatures over to the Branch of Condition and Normal Assets' Natural life Traffic Checking Unit. <br /><br />It said that the four bits of gear had been X-rayed via air terminal faculty and were left unclaimed in the landings region. <br /><br />Violators may confront detainment of one year and one day to two years and a fine of PHP20,000 or US$386.75 to PHP200,000 or US$3,867.46.
