A shocked grandmother from northeast England captured the moment police boxed in a driver of a stolen vehicle after a dramatic chase.<br /><br />Northumbria police pursued the male driver after an eight-mile chase on Tuesday (March 5) through the streets of Gateshead, local media reported. <br /><br />In the dash-cam video, the silver vehicle takes a left turn at a set of traffic lights onto the wrong side of the road, nearly striking another car.<br /><br />Several police cars are in pursuit and manage to box the car in, just yards from Jarrow grandmother Debbie Hudson's vehicle.<br /><br />A police officer then jumps out of his vehicle and pulls the driver of the silver car out of his vehicle.<br /><br />"The man had stolen a car from a forecourt," according to Hudson. <br /><br />She says the vehicle's price tag was still in the front window of the car.<br /><br />Hudson's grandchild was inside the car at the time and can be heard in the video.<br /><br />Local police said: "At about a 12.40pm today a wanted man was sighted driving a vehicle near to the Coalhouse roundabout in Gateshead. <br /><br />“Motor patrols officers signalled for the vehicle to stop but the driver refused and drove away from officers at speed. <br /><br />“The vehicle was eventually brought to a stop on Albert Road in Jarrow and the 21-year-old was arrested for outstanding matters. <br /><br />“Nobody was injured during the pursuit and the man in question remains in police custody at this time.”
