The Seoul City Government is clamping down on gender-based wage discrepancies.<br />The local government said Friday that it will begin requiring firms to disclose their employees' salaries,... so authorities can work on ways to narrow the gap.<br />Seoul will implement the initiative at 23 companies first, before the disclosure policy takes full effect in October.<br />According to government data, South Korean women are paid roughly 37 percent less than men.<br />The gender-based wage gap in South Korea has been the highest among OECD countries for 16 years. <br />
