Milwaukee to Host 2020
Democratic National Convention The 2020 Democratic National Convention
will be held on July 13-16, two weeks earlier
than previous conventions. The DNC hopes this will allow
the eventual nominee more time
to utilize general election funds. The newly built Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, will host the event, offering a
17,000 capacity arena. Milwaukee was one of three finalists
for the convention, defeating Houston and Miami. A deciding factor was Houston’s dominating oil and
gas industry, which would not have looked good for
the climate change advocating Democrats. DNC Chairman Tom Perez,
via CNN Wisconsin is a key Midwestern battleground
state that Democrats lost for the first time in
30 years during the 2016 presidential election. They did however gain back governorship of the state
in 2018 with the election of Tony Evers, and hope to secure
the support of the traditionally blue state in the 2020 election.
