Trump Administration <br />Proposes Largest Federal <br />Budget in US History The $4.75 trillion White House budget proposal was sent to Congress on Monday. The proposed budget would <br />increase military spending by <br />almost 5% and seeks an additional <br />$8.6 billion for border wall security. It slashes almost $2 trillion in <br />mandatory safety net funding <br />for programs such as Medicaid. It would reduce spending <br />on federal housing support, <br />the SNAP program and <br />Medicaid by $327 billion. Domestic programs with an increase in <br />funding include the fight against opioid <br />addiction and healthcare for veterans. A new school-choice program and $200 billion <br />in infrastructure funding are also proposed. The budget forecasts a deficit <br />in the trillions for four years <br />and would not balance for 15 years. Democrats in both the <br />House and Senate declared <br />the budget dead on arrival.
