Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today brushed aside the new political alliance between Umno and PAS with his trademark sarcasm.<br /><br />He said while Malaysian law forbids same-sex marriages, there are no such restrictions on political marriages.<br /><br />"If they want to unite, they can unite. If they want to get married, go ahead and get married. We are a free country... (Except for a man) to get married to a man, you can't do that here.<br /><br />"They want to get married (with each other), it is okay," he told reporters in Parliament today.<br /><br />Last Tuesday, Umno and PAS formalised their cooperation which had proven to be effective in the past two by-elections in Cameron Highlands and Semenyih.
