Trump Endorses Permanent Daylight Saving Time Daylight saving time (DST) currently
begins the second Sunday of March
and runs until the first Sunday of November. In recent years, more than 24 states
have considered putting an end to the
biannual clock change between standard
and daylight saving time. In 2018, Florida became the
first state to approve year-round DST. California may soon follow suit
after a proposition to adopt permanent
DST was approved by voters in 2018. President Donald Trump took to Twitter to voice
his support for the efforts, saying, "making Daylight
Saving Time permanent is O.K. with me!" The Sunshine Protection Act,
proposed by senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, has recently been re-introduced to Congress
and calls for permanent DST nationwide. Rubio had previously introduced a similar measure in 2018 that didn’t advance to the Senate.
